Er. S.K. Sharma, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), done his B.Sc. (Civil Engineering) from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh and joined the then Himachal Pradesh Housing Board (Now Housing and Urban Development Authority, better known as HIMUDA) in 1975. After working at different positions, he was elevated to the level of Chief Executive Officer-cum-Secretary. Mr. Sharma also rendered his services to HIMUDA as Chief Engineer for about 2 years w.e.f. 1.12.2004 to 18.1.2007. He remained as Superintending Engineer for about 6 years in HIMUDA w.e.f. 13.1.1999 to 30.11.2004. During this period of Mr. Sharma, various projects were planned and executed at different places throughout Himachal Pradesh.
HIMUDA is a Public Sector Undertaking in the State of Himachal Pradesh and has been assigned the job to plan and develop land and create infrastructure to meet with the housing needs of different income groups. The Authority has a strength of about 800 personnel, of which about 100 are technical people of the rank of Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineers, Chief Architect, Executive Engineers and Assistant Engineers. The remaining personnel are from Administration and Accounts stream. Authority is involved in execution of Housing Schemes and also executing construction works of other Govt. Boards, Corporations and Govt. Departments. Annual turnover of the Authority is approximately Rs.160.00 crore.
